Overview

This project was a postcard-inspired artwork created for RateMyAgent to use at events and meetings. The design needed to capture the spirit of the company’s location in Richmond and Cremorne, incorporating local icons such as the Swan Street clock tower and the area’s characteristic trams. Drawing inspiration from vintage American national park postcards and the whimsical style of the Gravity Falls title card, I created a welcoming, nostalgic illustration that doubled as both a celebration of place and a memorable piece of branded artwork.

Aim

The goal was to design a visually engaging and location-specific artwork that could serve as a backdrop or centerpiece for company events. It needed to be welcoming, recognizable to employees and visitors familiar with Richmond, and playful enough to stand out from standard corporate visuals. By merging local landmarks with a stylized, illustrative postcard aesthetic, the artwork offered both familiarity and a sense of creative storytelling.

Process & Methodologies

The artwork was created through a hybrid workflow combining AI-generated elements with detailed design refinement:

  • Adobe Firefly was used to generate initial imagery and textures, helping set the direction for the postcard aesthetic.

  • Photoshop was used to composite, retouch, and refine the key elements, ensuring the clock tower, tram, and environmental details worked together harmoniously.

  • Illustrator was used for vector refinements, type treatments, and layout adjustments to give the piece structure and polish.

I proposed the concept of a retro postcard, drawing from national park posters for composition and mood. The main RateMyAgent title treatment was influenced by the Gravity Falls logo, lending a bold, adventurous energy to the piece. Distressed textures, soft gradients, and warm tones further reinforced the nostalgic aesthetic.
