Overview

Inclusion Atlas is a live app and website developed by Cultural Infusion. The platform was launched later last year but was still in a beta form. Marketing was being performed for the app, but the service saw little use by the public and businesses.

Aim

I was assigned the responsibility of revamping the app's style and appearance. However, upon conducting a thorough analysis, I discovered significant foundational flaws in its design, leading me to propose a complete redesign from scratch. My intention was to realign the platform's objectives, identify its target audience, and optimize the entire system to better cater to the users' needs. This encompassed recalibrating the platform's purpose, refining its target demographic, and enhancing its functionality and user experience.

Process & Methodologies

Upon conducting a comprehensive deconstruction of the existing build, I delved into research to understand the specific challenges the app aimed to address. These encompassed issues related to inadequate inclusivity for individuals with disabilities, wheelchair users, and the LGBTQ+ community, among others. To gain further insights, I performed a competitive analysis, examining both similar apps within the same domain (review) and those tackling similar inclusion problems. Following this groundwork, I sketched out paper wireframes and proceeded to test the information architecture. Based on the results, I created a low-fidelity prototype that underwent additional testing. Taking the feedback into account, I iterated and refined the design, ultimately transforming it into a high-fidelity prototype. Once the final adjustments were implemented, the project was handed off for development.
